Founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 1981
IKRC Menorca was the first Kadampa center founded outside of England. In 1999, the Kadampa Temple of Menorca was opened and was inaugurated by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso himself in 2001. In 2012, it became the IKRC Menorca International Kadampa Retreat Center.
Gueshe-la, as the students call him, has blessed Menorca on multiple occasions with his presence, during which he has given numerous teachings and initiations.
The retreat house
Our retreat house underwent renovations in 2016 and now has ten rooms (each with private bathrooms), air conditioning, a kitchen and dining room, and outdoor spaces such as terraces and gardens.

At IKRC Menorca, we are flexible and can accommodate your timeline and level of involvement regardless of where you are in your journey. All of our retreats offer the chance to disconnect from the stress of everyday life and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing environment. If you are new to Buddhist meditation, we have introductory retreats to get you started. If you’re an experienced practitioner, we have others to deepen your Kadampa meditation practice.
Along the way, you will have qualified personal help and advice, and access to a library of resources at all times.
