About this Retreat

The happiness in eight steps

We are delighted to have the presence of Gen Kelsang Rigden to guide this retreat in which we will learn how to  meditate on a beautiful poem that is one of the most prized Buddhist scriptures, Training  the Mind in Eight Steps.

Today, life has become very complex and hectic, and our minds are increasingly filled with worries and anxiety. Our capacity for attention is less and less, making it difficult for us to remain calm and maintain harmonious relationships with others.

The practice of training the mind allows us to overcome our difficulties by transforming them into causes of our own spiritual development. In this way, we can solve our daily problems, feel at peace and experience true happiness.

Anyone, whether Buddhist or not, can benefit from the wisdom of these teachings and be inspired by these precious meditations.

In this retreat you will have the opportunity to

  • Learn to transform difficulties into opportunities.
  • Develop your love and compassion towards others.
  • Discover a method to be happy and make others happy.
  • Learn to meditate or deepen your knowledge of meditation.
  • Get to know our International Retreat Center in the beautiful island of Menorca.

No previous experience is necessary.

Situated in a privileged enclave on the beautiful island of Menorca (declared a Biosphere reserve), IRC Menorca, International Retreat Centre, is an ideal place to have retreats, both alone and in a group. The Centre, which is surrounded by a forest of pine trees and holm oaks of great natural beauty, enables you to breathe in a great sense of tranquility and peace and invites you to collect yourself and to deepen in the practice of the Dharma, through the contemplation and meditation of the Lanrim Kadam.

Gen Kelsang Rigden is a Buddhist monk who has extensive experience in meditation and teaching Kadampa Buddhism. He is currently the principal teacher of KMC Deauchen in Sintra, Portugal.

His example of closeness, sense of humor and clarity in exposing the teachings, encourage us to practice meditation and apply the Buddha’s advice in our lives with sincerity.

The International Retreat Center of Menorca has been visited many times by our Spiritual Guide, the Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, so it is a place with very good energy, very blessed. The Center is in the middle of the island, surrounded by a forest of holm oaks, wild olive trees and pine trees. Along with the pure air and the natural beauty of the landscape, we highlight the clarity of its nights; when in the serene sky, free of clouds, you can contemplate the tranquil beauty of the stars and the moon. Whether you are looking for a few days of tranquility to reconnect with yourself, or if you wish to deepen your practice of meditation and Modern Buddhism, the International Retreat Center is an ideal place. We offer personalized retreats  and national and international group retreats. Every year we invite international teachers from other centers to come and lead a retreat in our center.

Everyone is welcome, do not miss this opportunity!
