These retreats are aimed at all those with experience in meditation and Kadampa Buddhism and who want to delve into some important aspects of their practice.

Especially indicated for all those practitioners who want to improve their meditative experience in strict retreat, scrupulously observing the three types of retreat, physical, verbal and mental.

What is the goal?

The main goal of these retreats is to familiarize yourself with different practices and meditations that are mainly focused on developing conventional bodhichitta; to follow the path of the bodhisattva by practicing the six perfections; to delve into the taking and giving meditations and Mahamudra meditations as well. For this purpose, different Dharma texts will be studied according to each topic.

What is the recommended duration?

The recommended duration for this type of retreat is from one to six  months, but it may be less or more depending on the availability or wishes of the practitioner.

In retreat, you give yourself the opportunity to cultivate these four causes while deepening your knowledge by studying and contemplating the teachings on ultimate bodhicitta. You will also delve into the definitive method to solve all your problems.

THE FOUR GREAT PRELIMINARY GUIDES OF MAHAMUDRA

The goal

The goal of this retreat is to complete the four great preliminary guides of Mahamudra: refuge and bodhichita, purification, offering of the mandala and Guru Yoga. With sincere training in the practice of the four great preliminary guides of Mahamudra we will be able to achieve the happiness of complete enlightenment quickly. The four great preliminary guides are like the four wheels of a vehicle and the Mahamudra is the vehicle itself. If a wheel is missing the vehicle cannot move no matter how powerful it is. In the same way, if we do not train sincerely without distractions in these four great preliminary guides, we will not be able to reach the realization of Mahamudra with which we can reach the state of buddhahood.

OUR RESIDENT TEACHER

Gen Kelsang Dargyay has been a disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso since 2004 and has completed the Special Teacher Training Program. In studying, meditating and practising the teachings that he has received, he has become a qualified Kadampa teacher. His teachings are clear, practical and very accessible to his students.

Since November 2012 he has been the Resident Teacher of Menorca International Retreat Centre (Menorca IRC)
