About this retreat

OCEAN OF WISDOM RETREAT

We are very happy to have Gen Kelsang Tharpa to lead this online retreat on the wisdom of the middle way. This retreat will be based on the teachings and meditations of Venerable Geshe-la’s book Ocean of Nectar which is a commentary to Guide to the Middle Way of Chandrakirti. Guide to the middle way is a mahayana scripture which to this day is regarded as the principal presentation of Buddha’s profound view of emptiness, the ultimate nature of reality. This book is like an immeasurable ocean of wisdom full of hidden treasures and jewels; it perfectly reveals the ultimate truth of all phenomena with which we can attain the permanent liberation of all our suffering and problems. We invite you to dive in this ocean of wisdom with us to search for these hidden jewels.

In this retreat Gen Kelsang Tharpa will be giving the teachings and Gen Kelsang Dargyey will be guiding the meditations. Do not miss this opportunity! Everybody is welcome!

SPECIAL 40TH ANNIVERSARY RETREAT

This year we are celebrating the fortieth anniversary of our centre (1981-2021). Our IRC was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1981, and it was the first centre to be established outside of the UK. Geshe-la has blessed Menorca with his presence on several occasions and he has given many teachings and empowerments here. In 1999 the Kadampa Temple for World Peace opened and was inaugurated by Geshe-la in 2001. In 2012 it was transformed into the International Retreat Center. In 2016 an extensive rebuilding was made in the retreat house. Now it has ten guest rooms and we are able to accommodate retreaters.

ANCIENT WISDOM THAT ILLUMINATES OUR PRESENT

Retreats based on Buddhist wisdom that answers with amazing clarity and depth to the great questions we keep asking ourselves.

“… if by hearing about emptiness a Great Joy arises within again and again, the eyes moist with tears of great joy, and the hairs of the body stand on end, such a person has the seed of the mind of a complete Buddha…    Chandrakirti- Guide to the middle way ”

“Ocean of Nectar”  Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rimpoché

In this retreat you will have the opportunity to

  • Deepen your understanding of emptiness.
  • Have a meditative experience of emptiness.
  • Discover the middle way free from extremes.
  • Learn how to integrate your understanding of emptiness into your daily life.
  • Solve all your problems with the wisdom of the middle way
